This tour has been created to give you an overview of the South African flora and fauna in the Mpumalanga Region with emphasis on the Kruger National Park. During these 4 days we will try our best to provide an extensive overview of the birds, mammals and general nature and different habitats in this part of the country. You will be accompanied by a tour guide through the whole tour plus a Kruger Park guide/ranger on the day of the Safari.
Day 1: Arrival to Johannesburg.
We will meet you at the Airport and assist you with banking, foreign exchange, cellular rental and any other retail service you may require within the terminal building and finally take you to your hotel for the night.
There are several different tours that can be done in the city if you are up to it and there is time available.
Day 2: Panorama Route. (Breakfast and Dinner).
07H30 Departure to Kruger Park via the Panorama Route to visit the Blyde River Canyon, by some measures the third largest canyon in the world, after the Grand Canyon in the United States and the Fish River Canyon in Namibia and by any definition the largest 'green canyon' due to its lush subtropical foliage, it is known as one of the great wonders of nature on the African continent. After this we continue to Bourke's Luck Potholes where you will see how the river has eroded the rocks and created unusual potholes along the course of the river. We will then move on to Lisbon Falls which is the second biggest waterfall in South Africa (92 meters) and finally to God’s Window situated at the southern extremity of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve. At God’s Window, majestic cliffs plunge over more than 700 meters to the Lowveld and the game reserves which have made the area one of Africa’s prime wildlife destinations. On a clear day it is possible to see over the Kruger National Park towards the Lebombo Mountains on the border with Mozambique.
Dinner and accommodation in the towns of Hazyview or White River at any of the great Lodges in the area.
Day 3: Kruger Park Safari. (Breakfast and Dinner).
Early wake up for departure at 05H30 to Kruger Park for a full day open vehicle safari where we'll search for the elusive Big 5, entrance through Phabeni or Numbi Gate depending of accommodation. Breakfast at one of the picnic areas in the Park between 08H30 and 09H00. Lunch at own account. At around 16H00 return to the Lodge for a short rest before dinner.
Day 4: Pretoria Tour. (Breakfast).
08H00 Departure for Johannesburg via Pretoria city (Or any other tours requested) for a panoramic tour of one of the capital cities. We will visit the Union Buildings; drive around the city and go to Church Square which was the site of the first church in Pretoria and is the starting point of the city. Perhaps the best known feature of Church Square is the large bronze statue of former president Paul Kruger. It was cast in Italy near the turn of the century but was only placed on the square in 1954.
The Square is surrounded by many historic buildings, some dating back as early as 1891. Among them is the Palace of Justice; scene of arguably the most famous political trial in South Africa's history, the Rivonia Trial. During this trial, Nelson Mandela and other prominent liberation struggle figures were charged with treason and subsequently incarcerated.
After that we will return to your Hotel in the Johannesburg area.
